NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A fire at a three-floor multi-family home in New Haven Monday evening left four firefighters injured, according to city officials in New Haven.
The three-alarm fire happened around 7 p.m., with heavy flames at the home on Dixwell Avenue as firefighters arrived, city Mayor Justin Elicker said.
Eight people, including seven adults and one child, were living in the home at the time, according to Elicker, who noted that "everyone is OK."
Four firefighters had non-life-threatening injuries, according to Elicker.
In an update Tuesday, New Haven Fire Chief John Alston said all four were treated at a hospital due to the heat and have since been released. A couple were expected to resume their duties Tuesday evening.
New Haven Fire Chief John Alston said the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Alston noted that difficulties included the high humidity firefighters faced and getting in to the scene due to a "stubborn" fire.
