Police: 41-year-old New Haven man killed in hit-and-run collision

A fatal hit-and-run on State Street early Sunday morning took the life of a 41-year-old New Haven resident.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A hit-and-run collision early Sunday morning on State Street in New Haven claimed the life of 41-year-old Luis Timbila.

The New Haven Police and Fire Department responded to the accident around 2:20 a.m. near 1455 State Street.

According to responders, Timbila was found in the roadway and pronounced dead when medical attention was being provided.

His family has been notified.

Police say witnesses reported seeing a black Honda Civic with front-end damage fleeing north on State Street toward Hamden, followed by a red Honda Civic.
