Man dies after shooting in New Haven: Police

Detectives are working to identify a suspect after a 42-year-old man was found on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
A homicide investigation is underway near Ferry and Wolcott Streets in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A man died from his injuries in a shooting in New Haven Monday, according to a release from the city's police department Tuesday.

Police said at 12:38 p.m. on Monday, they received a ShotSpotter notification and multiple 911 calls about shots fired in the area of Wolcott Street by Ferry Street.

Peter Arroyo, 42, of New Haven, was taken to a hospital after being found on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries, police said.

Investigators found ballistic evidence at the scene of the shooting, according to police.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect and anyone with information is asked by police to call them at 203-946-6304 or via the anonymous tip-line at 866-88-TIPS (8477).

The police department initially alerted residents about the investigation on Monday in a post on X.
