NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Wallingford man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run in New Haven Tuesday, according to the New Haven Police Department.
At 9:01 a.m., New Haven police went to the area of Chapel Street and Temple Street after receiving a report that a vehicle hit a pedestrian.
Investigators learned that the vehicle took off from the scene after the crash, police said.
Arriving officers found a 63-year-old Wallingford man lying in the road on Chapel Street with "significant injuries," police said. The New Haven Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived to the scene and brought him to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment.
The man is currently in critical condition, according to police.
Police said witnesses at the scene told officers that a grey 4-door Honda hit the pedestrian as he was crossing Chapel Street and then drove away on Temple Street.
The Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is investigating. Police are asking any witnesses or those with information to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or the police department's anonymous tip-line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
