WATERBURY, Conn. — The Waterbury Police Department is reporting that a vehicle struck a teenage pedestrian in the roadway near 1200 Watertown Avenue Friday evening.
Around 7:13 p.m., Waterbury police officers responded to the scene. The pedestrian is identified as a 14-year-old boy from Waterbury. Police say he was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical but stable condition after suffering life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle that struck the teenager was being driven by a 75-year-old Waterbury resident, according to police. A 73-year-old female, also a Waterbury resident, was sitting in the front seat at the time of the incident.
Police report that neither the driver nor the passenger of the vehicle sustained injuries and that there were no other people in the vehicle.
The collision is currently being investigated by the Waterbury Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
As of 10 p.m., police say Watertown Avenue is closed between Kaynor Drive and Madeline Avenue.
