WATERBURY, Conn. — Police have arrested the man they say was the driver who hit and killed a man before driving away in Waterbury in May.
Trae Pratt, 21, of Waterbury was charged on Thursday with evading responsibility, manslaughter in the second degree, misconduct with a vehicle, reckless driving and failure to have light lit and devices illuminated. Pratt is being held on a $1 million bond pending court arraignment.
On Saturday, May 18, officers responded to Chase Avenue after 2 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.
Arriving officers found the victim, identified as Dwayne Hunter, 46, of Waterbury, in the roadway.
Hunter was taken to an area hospital where he later died, police said.
The vehicle that hit Hunter left the scene, police said.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call Waterbury police's Crash Reconstruction Unit at (203) 346-3975.
