WATERBURY, Conn. — A third person is facing charges in connection with the murder of a man in March outside a Waterbury courthouse.
On the morning of March 21, 26-year-old Jarron Chapman was shot and killed as he was leaving the courthouse. He'd been attending court proceedings earlier in the day.
When police got to the scene, they found Chapman suffering from gunshot wounds. Chapman was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Officials said that the suspect at the time fled the scene before officers could arrive.
A man and woman from Meriden were arrested last week in connection with the shooting. Police said 29-year-old Dante Howell and 21-year-old Deera Nelson were both charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Howell also faces charges of larceny and other firearms charges, and Nelson faces an additional charge of hindering a prosecution.
Howell was held on a $5 million bond, and Nelson was held on a $3 million bond.
Now, Waterbury investigators have identified a third suspect involved with the murder of Chapman.
Glastonbury resident Nicholas Chiapponi was arrested on Wednesday at his home and taken into custody by Waterbury's Major Crimes Detectives.
Chiapponi was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder and was also held on a $3 million bond.
Waterbury officials said they expect to make additional arrests in the investigations.
