WATERBURY, Conn. — Six families are without a home in Waterbury after a house fire on William Street.
Officials said the fire broke out Monday evening, and the fire department received numerous calls reporting a fire on the third floor of the multi-family home.
When crews arrived at the scene, they saw heavy smoke, and the fire was declared a second alarm. Flames extended from the third floor up into the roof.
Water damage from battling the fire reached the second and first floors, displacing six families: 20 adults, six kids, and one baby.
The owner of the property said they would be relocating people, and everyone managed to get out on their own with no reported injuries, according to officials.
