WATERBURY, Conn. — The Waterbury Police Department announced Friday that an arrest has been made in connection to the fatal hit-and-run in September that ultimately claimed the life of bicyclist Luis Caceras.
On Sept. 25, around 6 a.m., Waterbury police officers responded to the area of Cooke Street and Grove Street after being alerted that a hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist occurred there. The vehicle fled.
The bicyclist was identified as Caceras, a 37-year-old Waterbury resident. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, according to police, who say he died from those injuries on Oct. 2.
The police department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to investigate and find the vehicle and driver responsible for the incident. Investigators say they discovered the vehicle involved and determined that the suspect was Glory Sanchez, 32, of Waterbury.
After obtaining a warrant for her arrest, Waterbury took Sanchez into custody on Thursday.
Sanchez is charged with evading responsibility – death, criminal misrepresentation and failure to renew registration. She was held on a $150,000 bond pending arraignment on Friday.
