WATERBURY, Conn. — A driver traveling the wrong-way along Route 8 in Waterbury was killed in a two-car crash early Sunday, according to Connecticut State Police.
Based on preliminary information, state police said the crash happened at 3:11 a.m. Sunday on Route 8 northbound in the area of exit 30A in Waterbury.
A wrong-way driver in a Nissan Altima was traveling south in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the left lane, according to state police.
The Nissan driver, identified as Aron Vann, 30, of Waterbury, died from his injuries, state police said.
The driver of the Jeep had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad responded to assist with the investigation.
