WEST HAVEN, Conn. — West Haven police arrested a man after stopping a stolen ice cream truck Monday.
Police said a person called 911 around 9 p.m., stating the ice cream truck he was driving was stolen from a parking lot on Boston Post Road, where he was making a delivery.
Officials said West Haven police officers canvassed the area to find the truck. Officers coordinated with the Connecticut State Police, who found the stolen truck traveling on Interstate 95 south in Milford.
Officers with the Bridgeport Police Auto Theft Task Force, along with troopers, managed to safely stop the truck on the I-95 south Exit 27A off-ramp in Bridgeport. Officials said the truck contained $30,000 worth of ice cream.
Police arrested 35-year-old Travis Jones and charged him with larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny first-degree. Jones was held on $50,000 bond.
