GRISWOLD, Conn. — State police are investigating a head-on crash that happened Tuesday evening in Griswold.
A Hyundai Elantra was traveling east on Voluntown Road (Route 138) near Arthur's Way when a Ford F-250 traveling west crossed lanes and hit the front left corner of the Hyundai, state police said.
The Hyundai went toward the eastbound shoulder, hitting someone's mailbox, while the Ford went toward the westbound shoulder and hit a part of a metal guardrail before stopping partially in the road.
The Hyundai driver was seriously injured and was airlifted via Life Star to Hartford Hospital. Their condition is not known at this time. The Ford driver had minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The Ford passenger also had minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
