NEW LONDON, Conn. — An 87-year-old woman has died from her injuries after being hit by a car in a New London shopping center parking lot Wednesday, the city's police department said.
Police identified the woman as Geneva DeLabry of Groton Long Point.
Officers went to the parking lot located off of South Frontage Road at 12:18 p.m. after receiving a report of a car collision involving a pedestrian.
Based on preliminary information, police said they determined an 88-year-old woman left one of the businesses in the shopping center and was walking across the lot when she was hit.
The driver of the car remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
The woman was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for serious, life-threatening injuries and later died, according to police.
Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked by police to contact the New London Police Department Detective Bureau at 860-447-1481 or submit an anonymous tip via the New London Tips 411 system.
