NORWICH, Conn. — A hit-and-run in Norwich Tuesday left a man in critical condition, according to the city's police department Thursday.
At 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, the Norwich Communications Center received a 911 call about a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of East Main Street, police said.
Arriving officers found a 66-year-old man with head and torso injuries. Police said he was brought to William W. Backus Hospital and then to Hartford Hospital where he is in critical condition.
The vehicle that hit the man took off from the scene of the crash before officers arrived, according to police.
Police are asking anyone with surveillance camera footage of the area of the crash, who witnessed the incident or has information to contact Sgt. Richard Cannata via email at RCannata@cityofnorwich.org, phone at 860-886-5561 ext. #3521 or the department's anonymous tip line at 860-886-5561 ext. #4.
