NORWICH, Conn. — A person with life-threatening injuries was rescued from a single-car crash in Norwich Monday, according to Taftville Fire Company #2.
According to TFC #2, a crew was dispatched to a crash on Rt. 97 just after 9 a.m. Monday and found a car that went off the road and into a pile of large rocks.
The driver, who had life-threatening injuries, was pinned between the seat and the dashboard of the car, TFC #2 said.
Taftville EMTs began providing medical treatment as Taftville Fire members, with the assistance of the nearby Occum Fire Department and Hartford Healthcare crews, worked to remove the driver from the car.
Parts of the car were removed using the "Jaws of Life" rescue tool, according to TFC #2.
The driver was removed from the car after about 19 minutes and was taken to Backus Hospital with Hartford Healthcare paramedics.
The crash is believed to have happened overnight and was discovered Monday morning, TFC #2 said.
