NORWICH, Conn. — Zachary Verley was arrested by the Norwich Police Department Patrol Division and the Violent Crime Task Force East Office on Saturday afternoon.
At around 3 p.m., officers went to the area of 527 New London Turnpike to take Verley into custody on an outstanding warrant held by the Norwich Police Department. The warrant was issued following a wellbeing check earlier in the week.
Before police arrived at the house, it was discovered that Verley had left on foot. The state police, Waterford police, and Montville police with K-9 units searched the surrounding area.
An Everbridge message was sent out to the community, urging residents to be on the lookout for Verley.
Police were able to find him near Sycamore Rd due to the public's help. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Verley was charged with two counts of interfering with an officer, and with fugitive from justice, carrying a dangerous weapon, assault on a public safety officer, and criminal violation of a restraining order.
