Support pours in for family of fallen Trooper Aaron Pelletier from across the state

Support ranged from a 4-year-old holding a lemonade stand in Cromwell to benefit the trooper's family to a moment of silence at a Hartford Yard Goats game Sunday.

CONNECTICUT, USA — Support for the family of fallen Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier continues to pour in from all corners of the state and from people of all ages.

Pelletier died Thursday in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 84 in Southington while he was conducting a traffic stop on the right shoulder of the highway.

At Dunkin' Park in Hartford, the Yard Goats minor league baseball team honored Pelletier at a game Sunday against the Reading Fightin' Phils with a moment of silence.

His wife and two sons were at the game, with both sons throwing pitches in their father's honor.

In Cromwell, 4-year-old Brook opened a lemonade stand this weekend to support Pelletier's family with the help of her mom, Alicia Dziob.

Brook's mom said she has been asking to do a lemonade stand for a while, but wanted to do it for something special. Brook raised $158.07, which will all be handed over to State Police Troop H to go to the family.

"A little component to this is that I have a brother that had passed away due to an impaired driver, so I had been very involved with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in the past and when I heard the circumstances surrounding the trooper's crash, I thought this is something little we can do to help," Alicia Dziob said.

Anyone who wants to support Brook's mission can donate directly to the state police-approved GoFundMe page, set up to support Pelletier's family.

In Southington, people of all ages showed up Saturday at a memorial to place flowers and write messages of love and support.

The memorial across the street from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home continues to grow as people from the state come to pay their respects.

Jan Krause, an EMT, said, "It's just hard to see fellow first responders pass away in life to be like this. Just happens too often, you know, this like the fourth officer to die in the line of duty in the last few years..."

The memorial was surrounded with flowers, balloons and a wooden statue of Pelletier's K9 partner Roso.

The Connecticut Sun also held a moment of silence on Friday for Pelletier.
