BOLTON, Connecticut — The town of Bolton has lifted a shelter in place warning that was in affect for several hours Friday evening; a suspect is reportedly in custody.
Residents were requested to shelter in place and lock their doors after an accident was reported in the area of Bolton High School.
In a Facebook post just prior to 7 p.m., the town reported the accident occurred at the intersection of Brandy Street and Hanover Farms Road near the town's high school. There is reportedly an active police investigation underway in that area.
News of the crash was first posted on the town's Facebook page at 6:43 p.m. before an update was issued on Facebook at 6:50 p.m. with the shelter in place warning.
Bolton town officials asked people avoid the area at that time.
In a third post at 7:31 p.m., the town advised residents nearby to remain indoors.
"If you see someone suspicious, do not approach them; call 911 or Troop K at (860) 465-5400," the post said.
The shelter in place warning was lifted around 8:47 p.m., when the town posted on Facebook that a suspect was taken into custody.
