VERNON, Conn. — Connecticut State Police charged a man after they stopped the car he was driving Saturday for going over 120 mph on Interstate 84 in Tolland.
At 1:43 a.m. Saturday morning, a trooper was traveling westbound on I-84 about one mile west of Exit 68 in Tolland when they saw a silver Mercedes E350 sedan traveling at a high rate of speed while failing to maintain its lane of travel.
The trooper clocked the silver Mercedes traveling at speeds exceeding 125 miles per hour and stopped it at about 1/2 a mile before Exit 67 in Vernon.
Kyler V. Armstrong, 29, of East Hartford, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs and/or Alcohol, Reckless Driving Greater than 85 mph, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, and Failure to Maintain Lane.
When Armstrong was pulled over, the trooper smelled alcohol from Armstrong’s vehicle and saw that Armstrong appeared to be impaired. Armstrong failed standardized field sobriety tests, and could not provide documentation confirming that his vehicle was properly insured.
