WILLINGTON, Conn — A man was charged with threatening and assault after an incident in Willington on Wednesday.
At 8:23 a.m., troopers assigned to Troop C were called to a report of a disturbance between a man and woman at a business.
Troopers they had received a third-party 911 call reporting that a female had been physically assaulted and allegedly held at knifepoint against her will. The suspect was said to be inside of a vehicle in the parking area of the business. Troopers made contact with the woman, who had visible injuries to her face and hands. Troopers determined that the incident met the criteria of a family violence crime.
During an argument, the woman said that she was assaulted and threatened. She was able to get to a business and call a relative who contacted police.
After initially failing to comply, Jonathan Yokabaskas, 29, was detained by troopers. Later, he was charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, Threatening in the 2nd Degree, Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Restraint in the 1st Degree.
Yokabaskas was held on a $250,000 bond and transferred to the custody of the CT Department of Correction pending his arraignment, scheduled on Thursday, at Rockville Superior Court.
