WOODSTOCK, Connecticut — A Willimantic woman lost her life in a crash in Woodstock Friday morning, according to a release from state police.
Elise Marie Ortiz, 35, was reportedly killed in the crash on Roseland Park Road that occurred around 10:14 a.m.
Ortiz was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry at an unknown rate of speed about a tenth of a mile south of Arvidson Road when the car veered off the roadway to the right striking approximately 40 feet of wooden fence, state police said.
The car continued traveling north and struck a utility pole on the northbound shoulder, and then traveled down an embankment, police said. It came to rest against a standing tree.
Ortiz was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:38 a.m. by Dr. Dowling of Day Kimball Hospital, state police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
