WALLINGFORD, Conn. — It’s been a lucky week for lottery players in Connecticut, as three separate winning tickets worth $100,000 apiece have been sold in the state since last Wednesday, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation reports.
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, a player from Norwalk won the $100,000 top prize in the CT Lottery’s Cash5 drawing. The winning ticket was bought at the Super 7 Food & Market at 109 New Canaan Avenue in Norwalk. The business will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Several days later, on Monday, Nov. 18, another lottery player capitalized big time on the Cash5 game, winning $100,000. CT Lottery reports that the winning ticket was sold at the 7-11 located at 188 Davis Street in Oakville. That business will also receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
CT Lottery says that Cash5 drawings happen every night around 10:30 p.m. Tickets cost $1 each, with a “Kicker” option available for 50 cents more. The odds of winning the top prize are one in 342,632. Overall odds of Cash5 are one in 72.1, while overall odds of Cash5 with Kicker are one in 12.1.
The Cash5 game wasn’t the only one that produced a $100,000 winner, however.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, a CT Lottery player won a top $100,000 prize on the scratch game, $100,000 CA$HWORD. The winning ticket was sold in East Haven at Forbes Premium Fuel, located at 863 N High Street. That business will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket as well. CT Lottery says the overall odds for the game are 1 in 3.13.
CT Lottery players can check their tickets by scanning them with the CT Lottery app, which is available in the App Store or for Android.
The Connecticut Lottery Corporation is a quasi-public state agency that aims to generate revenue for Connecticut consistent with the highest standards of good public policy and social responsibility.
In fiscal year 2023, CT Lottery reports that players in the state won over $1 billion in prize money, and lottery retailers netted $88 million in commissions. Meanwhile, the corporation gave $404 million to support the services and programs funded by the state’s General Fund, which includes public health, libraries, public safety, education and more. Since the state lottery began in 1972, it has contributed more than $11 billion to the state’s General Fund.
