HARTFORD, Conn. — Ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Connecticut towns and cities have taken precautions to ensure voters' safety.
With many people calling Tuesday's election the most important with a lot on the line, towns across the state will have security in polling stations.
“There’s a lot of fear going around and I don’t think there will be any aggressive, anything physical between people,” Christian Martinez of West Hartford said.
Giselle Feliciano of the Hartford Registar of Voters added, “We have all of HPD including school security on staff that will be surrounding all the polling locations."
Smaller towns like Prospect will also have a police presence.
“We have increased police presence; they’ll be taking more trips around the polling places than usual,” said Katie Blinstrubas of Prospect's Registrar of Voters.
Feliciano said it’s normal to see law enforcement officers at polling locations on Election Day.
“All police always circulating within all polling locations during any type of election day that we have,” Feliciano said.
When it comes to the delivery of the ballots, Mary-Ann Byrne with the Prospect Registrar of Voters said, “We’re following all the protocol as far as delivering of the ballots and the chain of command and so forth so all of that is in place so there’s always someone with the ballots and where they are."
