CROMWELL, Conn. — As the Travelers Championship gets under way, another tradition is continuing at TPC River Highlands.
Every year, the Travelers Championship opens its gates to our military men and women free of charge as a way to give thanks for their service. And this year, business has picked up. That's something to celebrate at the Patriots Outpost, one of the best spots to view the tournament.
At the Patriots Outpost, veterans and active service members can relax in the shade while watching the top golfers in the world. They can watch the competition in person or on television while also enjoying a free lunch.
Valerie Powell-Stafford, president of St. Francis Hospital, is the daughter of a veteran. She spoke on the importance of offering military members and veterans a relaxing spot to take in the tournament in Cromwell.
"Our Patriots Outpost is really part of our military appreciation program and consists of free tournament tickets and also a nice hospitality suite with complementary food all day for our brave men and women," Powell-Stafford said.
Trinity Health of New England sponsors the new and improved Patriots Outpost, which is located right along the ninth hole. The outpost will be open and welcoming active military personnel and veterans all weekend long.
