2024 Travelers Championship | The top golfers in the world travel to Connecticut

From June 19-23, approximately 70 PGA Tour golfers will compete at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. Here are some of the biggest names expected to play.

CROMWELL, Conn. — TPC River Highlands in Cromwell will be the center of the golf universe next week as the PGA Tour visits Connecticut for the 2024 Travelers Championship.

From June 19-23, some of the top golfers on the planet will play for the $20 million purse on a course that has been modified to challenge them.

The field includes some of the sport’s brightest stars, including Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, per the Official World Golf Rankings, and Jordan Spieth, who’s famous bunker shot in 2017 won the Travelers Championship. 

Keegan Bradley, who won last year’s Travelers Championship, will also be playing.

According to the OWGR, nine of the world’s top 10 golfers will appear at the Travelers Championship. Beyond the top 10, a handful of veteran golfers with dozens of wins split between them will also compete.

Scottie Scheffler

The 27-year-old from Ridgewood, N.J. turned pro in 2018 and has earned $67,155,120 in his career. He has 11 career wins on the PGA Tour, including five this year. Scheffler is the first player since Tom Watson in 1980 to win five times on the PGA Tour before the U.S. Open, according to ESPN.

The University of Texas graduate has earned $24 million in 2024, breaking the PGA Tour season’s earning record that he set last year. The Dallas resident will appear in his fifth consecutive Travelers Championship next week.

When Scheffler committed to participate in the tournament in February, Andy Bessette, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Travelers, said it set the perfect tone for this year’s championship.

“Scottie has accomplished so much on the golf course, and he’s even more impressive of the course with the way he handles himself and treats everybody,” Bessette said, in February.

Xander Schauffele

Ranked as the world’s second-best golfer, the 30-year-old from La Jolla, Calif. turned pro in 2015 and has earned $50,507,934 in his career. Schauffele has appeared in 176 events on the PGA Tour and won eight of them, including the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, where he recorded his first major title.

In 2022, Schauffele won the Travelers Championship with a come-from-behind victory that he cemented with a late tap-in birdie. He’ll look to win in Cromwell again this year.

The San Diego State University graduate currently plays out of San Diego, Calif. and resides in Jupiter, Fla. In 2024, he has recorded 10 top 10 finishes, coming in second twice. In 2024, Schauffele has earned $11,597,071.

Wyndham Clark

Ranked as the fourth-best golfer in the world, the 30-year-old turned pro in 2017 after attending the University of Oregon. In 156 PGA Tour events, Clark has won three, including the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This year, he’s finished in the top 10 at four events.

Since joining the PGA Tour in 2019, Clark has made $24,843,964. He plays out of Denver and currently resides in Scottsdale, Ariz. Over the course of his career, Clark has recorded 21 top 10 finishes, 11 top five finishes, three third place finishes and he’s been the runner-up twice.

Viktor Hovland

The No. 5 golfer in the world has six career PGA Tour wins and one top 10 finish in 2024. During his career, the 26-year-old from Oslo, Norway has played in 107 events. He also has two international wins under his belt.

Hovland, the 2023 FedEx champion, has earned $29,096,303 since joining the PGA Tour in 2020. He has recorded 26 top 10 finishes, placed in the top five 21 times, placed third five times and has been the runner-up four times.

Ludvig Åberg

The 24-year-old from Eslov, Sweden is the No. 6 golfer in the world. He has played in 28 career PGA Tour events since joining last year. Since then, Åberg has earned $10,422,713 while winning the 2023 RSM Classic as a rookie. It was his second professional victory, as Åberg also won in international competition. He currently resides in Tallahassee, Fla.

Ten times this year, the Texas Tech University graduate has finished in the top 10. He also has six top five finishes and has been the runner-up three times this year. Åberg will look to get his first PGA Tour victory of the year in Cromwell next week.

Collin Morikawa

Since turning pro in 2019, the 27-year-old from Los Angeles has played in 113 PGA Tour events and won six of them. He is currently ranked as the No. 7 golfer in the world. As a professional golfer, Morikawa has earned $33,234,017. He currently resides in Las Vegas.

This year, Morikawa has finished in the top 10 six times. The University of California-Bentley graduate will try to get his first victory of the year at the Travelers Championship. Over the course of his professional career, Morikawa has 39 top 10 finishes, 25 top five finishes, two third place finishes and he’s been the runner-up eight times.

Patrick Cantlay

While the world’s No. 8 golfer Jon Rahm isn’t expected to play in Cromwell, the No. 9 golfer – Patrick Cantlay – will. Cantlay, 32, of Long Beach, Calif., graduated from UCLA and turned pro in 2012. He joined the PGA Tour in 2014 and has eight career wins.

Cantlay, who currently resides in Jupiter, Fla., has earned $45,498,047 during his professional career. This year, he’s finished in the top 10 twice. In 175 career events, the 2021 FedEx Cup Champion has 56 top 10 finishes to his name, has finished in the top five 37 times, has placed third eight times and has been the runner-up 10 times.

Max Homa

Homa, 33, is ranked 10th in the world. The Burbank, Calif. native has six career wins on the PGA Tour and three top 10 finishes in 2024. He also has an international win on his resume. Homa turned pro in 2013 and joined the tour in 2014. Since then, he has earned $27,118,786.

During his career on the PGA Tour, the University of California-Bentley grad has played in 190 events. He has 34 top 10 finishes, 14 top five finishes, three third place finishes and has finished second once. Homa currently lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Brian Harman

Harman, 37, has played in 359 events since joining the PGA Tour in 2012. Since then, he has recorded three career wins and earned $36,905,677. In 2024, Harman has yet to win but has finished in the top 10 twice.

Originally from Savannah, Ga., the University of Georgia grad plays from Sea Island, Ga. and lives on St. Simons Island, Ga. As a PGA Tour golfer, Harman has registered 54 top 10 finishes, 27 top five finishes, nine third place finishes and five times he has been runner-up.

Keegan Bradley

Bradley is the reigning Travelers Championship winner; he took home the top spot and $3.6 million in 2023 and will look to perform similarly this year.

A veteran of the sport, Bradley has six career wins to his name since joining the PGA Tour; he originally turned pro in 2008. Bradley is currently ranked as the No. 15 golfer in the world. On the tour, Bradley has played in 345 events and won six of them. This year, he’s finished in the top 10 twice.

Since joining the tour, Bradley has earned $43,479,883 in prize money. He has finished in the top 10 58 times, placed top five on 36 occasions, finished third twice and he’s been the runner-up 11 times.

Justin Thomas

Thomas, the No. 25 golfer in the world, is one of the most accomplished golfers who will play at Cromwell next week. The 31-year-old has 15 career wins on the PGA Tour and has finished in the top 10 four times this year.

In a PGA Tour career that spans 232 events, Thomas has earned $57,909,964 while finishing in the top 10 79 times, the top five 52 times, third place 13 times and second on six occasions. Thomas is a graduate of the University of Alabama who was born in Louisville, Ky. He lives now in Jupiter, Fla.

Jordan Spieth

Spieth may have fallen to the No. 26 ranking in the world, but his career speaks for itself. Born in Dallas, where he still lives, Spieth attended the University of Texas before turning pro in 2012 and joining the PGA Tour in 2013.

In 274 career PGA Tour events, Spieth has 13 career victories, including a memorable one at the Travelers Championship in 2017 when he won the event with a shot from the bunker, one of the year’s top moments in sports. He also has two international wins on his list of achievements.

As a PGA Tour golfer, Spieth has earned $62,398,748. Since debuting, the 2015 FedEx Cup champion has 89 top 10 finishes, 54 top five finishes, 11 third place finishes and he’s finished second 18 times. Spieth will look to win the Travelers Championship again next week.

Ricky Fowler

Once known for wearing orange, Fowler refined his outfit and his golf game and has found success on the PGA Tour, where he has won six career events, earning $9,784,331 over 337 career performances since joining the tour in 2010.

Fowler, 35, was born in Murrieta, Calif. and attended Oklahoma State University. He currently lives in Jupiter, Fla.

Over the course of his career, Fowler has finished in the top 10 82 times, finished top five on 46 occasions, he has eight third place finishes and has finished in second 15 times.
