HARTFORD, Conn. — The UConn women’s basketball team slid down one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 ranking on Monday, despite their decisive wins against Creighton and Georgetown.

The Huskies dropped to No. 13 in the AP Top 25 poll for Week 9 after steadily rising in the poll since falling to their worst ranking in 30 years at No. 15 in Week 5.

UConn has won their last six games in a row by double-digit margins, including beating three ranked teams: No. 15 Louisville, No. 22 Creighton, and No. 23 Marquette.

South Carolina remained No. 1 in the AP poll, remaining unbeaten all season. The other two undefeated teams are No. 2 UCLA and No. 4 Baylor.

Iowa moved up to third after previously unbeaten N.C. State lost in the last second to Virginia Tech. The Wolfpack fell to sixth.

Colorado was fifth. LSU, which won at Mississippi on Sunday in front of a program-record crowd of 9,074 for the Rebels, was No. 7 behind N.C. State and Stanford, USC and Texas rounded out the top 10.

Virginia Tech moved up two spots to 11th, leapfrogging Kansas State and UConn. The Hokies' two losses this season have come to Iowa on a neutral court and at LSU.

UConn, which received 487 votes, was not the only Connecticut team to get votes. Fairfield received 2 votes, representing their first votes ever in the national poll.

The Stags are currently riding a 10-game winning streak.

"It's an honor for our program to be garnering some recognition nationally," head coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said in a statement on their website. "I credit every individual in this program from players, to coaches, to staff in the way each person invests in one another."

She continued: “The energy, the connectedness, and the joy that each person brings to the gym every day is infectious. We've talked over and over about being consistent, and when you do that individually and collectively, the parts start to add up to a much bigger and more purposeful whole. For us to be receiving votes in the AP Top 25 is incredibly rewarding and just the beginning of what we are building!"
