STORRS, Conn. — UConn forward Aubrey Griffin is out for the 2023-24 season after suffering an ACL injury in their game against Creighton in early January.
Officials with the team said the graduate went down with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in her left knee in the Huskies win over No. 21 Creighton.
Griffin will have surgery at UConn Health at a later date.
Griffin has been on the UConn Women's Basketball team roster longer than any other current player, returning for a fifth year this season. She sat out her junior year in 2021 when she received back surgery.
UConn Head Coach Geno Auriemma said Tuesday that because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a medical redshirt year after a back injury, Griffin still has another year of college eligibility, should she decide to return to school.
Griffin was averaging 9.5 points and six rebounds per game, shooting 54.7% from the field.
The Huskies have already lost Azzi Fudd for the season due to a knee injury and Ayanna Paterson for the season due to a knee injury.
