EAST HAVEN, Conn. — Burlington Stores, the retail chain that used to be known as the Burlington Coat Factory, will open a new location at 78 Frontage Road in East Haven, occupying the space that was formerly occupied by Big Lots.
The announcement was made by local officials last week. They are optimistic about the store’s potential impact on the community.
Mayor Joseph A. Carfora welcomed the news, calling it a “win” for East Haven.
“Burlington’s decision to open a location here reflects our ongoing efforts to attract businesses and expand local retail options,” Carfora said.
The new store is expected to create jobs and further develop the area’s retail landscape.
Rich Coppola, head of East Haven's Economic Development Department, believes Burlington’s arrival is another step in East Haven’s economic growth.
“This is a positive development that will support the town’s efforts to create a thriving business environment,” Coppola said.
Property owner Michael Schaffer expressed enthusiasm about the new tenant, stating that Burlington will complement existing businesses and enhance the retail mix on Frontage Road.
The site, a key retail area in the town, has hosted various tenants over the years, including Xpect Discounts and Big Lots. With Burlington's addition, local officials are confident the site will continue to be a major asset for East Haven.
Burlington is expected to open its doors in the near future, providing a new shopping option for residents and further strengthening the town's economy.
