BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — One person is dead after a shooting in Bloomfield Saturday evening, the police department reports.
Around 7:40 p.m., police responded to 5 Evan Lane after receiving word of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a 24-year-old man from Bloomfield suffering from a single gunshot wound to the neck, police said.
The man was given CPR, but when an ambulance arrived, police said he was pronounced dead on scene.
The 24-year-old victim was identified by police Wednesday as Keyandre Hightower of Bloomfield.
After securing the area and investigating, police identified a 17-year-old from Bloomfield as the shooter, the department said. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
According to police, a party was being held at the location when the victim and the alleged shooter became involved in a physical confrontation. During the fight, the 17-year-old allegedly drew a weapon and shot Hightower in the neck area. Police said they recovered the weapon on scene.
A 60-year-old Hartford woman was taken into custody after tampering with evidence as police attempted to recover the weapon. The police department’s Detective Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
