WALLINGFORD, Conn. — A man in Wallingford sliced a relative with a knife on Monday, according to a release from the Wallingford Police Department.
Alan Munoz-Velez, 28, of Wallingford, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal attempt at assault, third-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and breach of peace.
Police said Munoz-Velez tried to stab a relative during a dispute that occurred in the driveway of his residence on Center Street. When another relative attempted to intervene, Munoz-Velez sliced him instead, according to police. It was unclear if this was on purpose, but the relative who intervened sustained a non-life-threatening laceration on his right hand, according to police.
Police were called to the address for a domestic dispute involving a knife and encountered Munoz-Velez in the back yard of the residence upon arrival. Police said officers held Munoz-Velez at gunpoint and gave him several commands; he was taken into custody without incident.
After being arrested, Munoz-Velez was held on a $100,000 surety bond and appeared in court on Tuesday, police said.
The investigation was conducted by the Wallingford Police Patrol and Detective Divisions.
