NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A stabbing victim in New Haven passed away Saturday afternoon after walking into Yale New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael campus on Chapel Street to seek treatment, according to New Haven police.
Police said they were called to the hospital at 2 p.m. after receiving report of a 26-year-old stabbing victim. The victim arrived by a private vehicle, police said.
The main entrance quickly turned into a crime scene, as the officers traced the assault back to Orchard Street.
According to police, they received a call reporting that there was blood on the walkway and fence found at Orchard and Henry Street. Additional officers responded to the location to determine another crime scene.
The 26-year-old New Haven resident was pronounced dead from multiple stab wounds.
Detectives are now processing both scenes. Police are urging anyone with information to call 203-946-6304 or through the departments’ anonymous tip-line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
His death is being treated as a homicide, police said. Police did not specify where the man was stabbed or where he was coming from and did not release his name to the public. No suspects have been publicly identified at this time.
