ROCKY HILL, Conn. — At 8:48 p.m. the Connecticut State Police responded to a multi--vehicle crash on I-91 South near exit 23 in Rocky Hill.
The crash involved 3 vehicles, resulting in the death of the driver of vehicle 1. Police say the driver was pronounced dead upon arrival at the nearby hospital.
According to police, the collision began when vehicle 3 swerved from the left lane into the left center lane striking vehicle 1. Both cars rolled over with vehicle one crossing into the right lane and hitting vehicle 2.
Several drivers involved sustained minor injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals, police say.
The investigation suggests that the driver of vehicle 3 was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The accused driver was arrested for violating Connecticut General Statute 14-227-A and released on a $50,000 bond.
They are scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on October 25th, 2024.
Authorities are seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to assist with the ongoing investigation.
