BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A man was arrested in connection to the deaths of two men behind an armed robbery at an illegal Bridgeport gambling club in March, according to the city's police department.

Sean Ellam, 38, of Bridgeport, is facing charges of criminal possession of a firearm, tampering with evidence and stealing a firearm after turning himself into detectives on Tuesday, police said.

According to police, officers arrived at Stratford Avenue and Logan Street on March 30 shortly after 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports about multiple people shot on Stratford Avenue and Logan Street.

Two men from Bridgeport, identified as Richard Davis, 30, and Tayvon Geter, 32, were found outside of the location with gunshot wounds and were taken to a local hospital where they later died, police said.

Two other people with gunshot wounds determined to be non-life-threatening also walked into the hospital and told police they were shot inside of the club on Stratford Avenue, police said.

Investigators found evidence of a crime scene at the club, indicating that a gun fight took place inside.

The club has since been shut down, police said, noting that Mayor Joseph Ganim and Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter, Sr. had asked the community in April to report any after-hour clubs to prevent similar crimes from taking place.

Ellam was held on a $75,000 bond.

The Bridgeport Police Department Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, and anyone with information is asked by police to contact the lead Det. Keith Hanson, at 203-581-5243.
