BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Bridgeport Police Department says it solved a murder on the same day it occurred.
Twenty-nine-year-old Kyle Allen LeBlanc was fatally stabbed multiple times early Friday morning in the city, allegedly by 40-year-old Bridgeport resident Ricardo Maldonado, who was arrested by Bridgeport police and charged later in the day.
Around 3 a.m. Friday, Stratford police responded to a report of a person lying in the street bleeding near the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Bruce Avenue in Stratford. It was reportedly LeBlanc who was found deceased there.
The primary crime scene was soon determined to be located nearby in Bridgeport behind the Thirty Plus Social Club at 1985 Stratford Avenue. The Bridgeport Police Homicide Unit, Major Crimes Unit and Video Retrieval Unit took the case over and worked throughout the day.
At approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, Maldonado was arrested outside of his Cowles Street residence, only several blocks from where the stabbing occurred, Bridgeport police say.
Maldonado was charged with murder and taken into custody without incident. He was given a $750,000 bond, according to Bridgeport police.
Bridgeport police detectives say that the murder was an isolated incident, and that Maldonado and LeBlanc were associates.
The Bridgeport Police Department expressed thanks to the Stratford Police Department for their assistance.
