Bridgeport shooting leaves man in critical condition, police say

Police said the man was brought to the hospital after officers found him with a gunshot wound to the head.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport shooting Sunday morning left a man in critical condition, according to the city's police department.

At 11:20 a.m., officers went to the 200 block of Goddard Avenue for a report of a person shot in the street.

Police at the scene said they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. An AMR ambulance brought him to an area hospital where he is currently in critical condition, according to police.

The Detective Bureau is leading the investigation, police said.

Investigators secured a crime scene on Goddard Avenue between Cogswell Street and Rockland Street as the Forensic Identification Unit collected evidence.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the case officer, Det. Jeffrey Holtz, at 203-581-5243.
