SHELTON, Conn. — A woman from Orange is accused of driving the wrong way on Route 8 in Shelton, which led to a head-on crash overnight Wednesday.
State police were called to Route 8 North near Exit 12 around 1:25 a.m. for a report of a wrong-way driver going south in the northbound lanes. While troopers were responding, they were told the reported wrong-way driver got into a head-on crash with another vehicle.
Troopers found the crash and took an adult driver and a teen passenger to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police identified the wrong-way driver as Andrea Marseglia, 39, of Orange. She was showing signs of impairment and did not pass the field sobriety tests, state police said.
Marseglia was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, DUI, failure to drive in proper lane, and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear on Sept. 11, which happens to be her birthday.
