NORWALK, Conn. — A middle school guidance counselor for Norwalk Public Schools is out of a job and under arrest after having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to local police.
Luisa Melchionne, 47, of New Canaan was arrested Thursday morning after an investigation was launched earlier this year.
At the end of April, Norwalk police got a complaint about a Norwalk Public School employee allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
During the investigation, the police department's Special Victims Unit determined Melchionne was having an inappropriate relationship with a male student.
Melchionne was a guidance counselor at Nathan Hale Middle School. She no longer works for the school district, police said.
Melchionne was charged with sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor. Her bond was set to $500,000 and is scheduled in court Thursday.
