BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Bridgeport police said that a 3-year-old died in an "accidental drowning" Saturday evening.
According to police on Monday, first responders including the city's police and fire departments, along with Emergency Medical Services, arrived to the "west side of the city" at 8 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report that a child was found "unresponsive" in a 3-foot children's pool.
First responders began CPR and other life-saving measures, police said. The child was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where they later died.
The death appears to have been an accident drowning, according to police.
In a release Sunday, police said that they received a report about a "possible drowning of an infant" on Orland Street.
Police said this is an ongoing investigation by their Detective Bureau.
