BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A woman was arrested in the armed robbery of an illegal gambling club tied to the shooting deaths of two men in March, Bridgeport police said Tuesday.

Shanica Merced, 35, of Bridgeport is facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree and illegal gambling for her role in helping to run the club.

Police said that she conspired with Tayvon Geter, 33, and Richard Davis, 30, to pull off an armed robbery in the club.

She was spotted in surveillance video letting the two of them in while they were wearing masks and sat with them alone for an extended amount of time before the robbery, according to police.

Officers went to Stratford Avenue and Logan Street on March 30 shortly after 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports about multiple people shot on Stratford Avenue and Logan Street, police said.

Investigators learned that Geter and Davis were robbing the club's gamblers at gunpoint when one of the gamblers began shooting, police said. The two were killed in the gunfire.

The gambler was also shot but survived, according to police. Merced was grazed by a round while escaping the gunfire.

Merced was arrested on a felony warrant during a traffic stop by Bridgeport Police Task Force Officers on the East Side, police said. She was held on a $250,000 bond.

According to police, Merced had a personal relationship with Marcus Farmer, 37, of Bridgeport, who was also arrested in June with helping to run the club but was not involved in the robbery.

In May, police also arrested Sean Ellam, 38, of Bridgeport, who they said stole a gun from one of the suspects killed in the shooting. He was charged with stealing a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.
