BROOKFIELD, Conn. — An SUV driver is in the hospital Thursday after driving into ‘Elevate’ hair salon, according to firefighters in Brookfield. Their conditions are unknown.
At 2:35 p.m., Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and EMS were called to the scene on Old Route 7 and Laurel Hill Road. They worked to secure the vehicle and building so the driver could be removed safely, according to BVFC’s Facebook post.
EMS evaluated the hairstylists and clients. They are uninjured, according to the Facebook post.
Elevate's owner took to Instagram several hours later, saying, “The actions of others have affected us, but we are here. Things will be ok, and we are meant to thrive and survive.”
The salon’s website says the owner, Amanda, opened Elevate in 2021 after working in the salon industry for over 15 years.
It took 16 people two hours to get the vehicle above the concrete lip on the first floor.
“Members utilized the TL-9 stabilizer from T and J Rescue Enterprises, LLC,” said the BVFC post.
The post did not mention the driver's identity. It also didn’t say how many people were in the salon at the time of the crash. It’s unknown when the salon is expected to re-open.
