SUFFIELD, Conn. — A young person is recovering after they were hit by a vehicle Wednesday night, police said.
Suffield police got several 911 calls reporting the crash around 9:15 p.m. The crash happened on Mapleton Avenue (Route 159), just south of the border with Massachusetts and Six Flags New England Amusement Park.
When officers and other first responders got to the scene, they found a "juvenile male" had been hit by the vehicle while he was walking south on the road. Officials said the vehicle was also traveling south at the time.
The youth was taken to the hospital for his injuries. Suffield police did not state his age or the extent of his injuries at this time. It's also unknown where the youth was walking to or from.
Police said that due to the severity of the crash, the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad is conducting the investigation.
