BRISTOL, Conn. — A second person is dead after a vehicle hit two pedestrians in Bristol Monday morning, according to the town's police department.
Police said the crash happened at 4:14 a.m. in the area of Pine Street (Route 72) and Emmett Street. The area was closed during the investigation but was reopened around noon.
After officers arrived to the scene, police said they attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived.
Both pedestrians were taken to local hospitals. Police identified a woman who died Monday as Fay Clarity, 37 of Bristol and a man who died Tuesday as Nicholas Cricco, 34 of Bristol.
Based on preliminary information, police said they learned the vehicle had been traveling east on Pine Street and hit the two pedestrians who were in the crosswalk area.
The driver stopped their vehicle and remained at the scene, according to police, who noted that they were not injured and are cooperating with the investigation.
The Bristol Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate. Anyone with information on the crash is asked by police to contact Ofc. Katherine Verillo at 860-584-3031 or KatherineVerillo@BristolCT.gov.
