BRISTOL, Conn. — A Bristol restaurant is closed "until further notice" after a truck crashed into the building Monday, the business said in a Facebook post.
Jimmy's On The River, a restaurant located on Terryville Road, was hit by the truck while undergoing repairs and renovations from a separate crash that impacted the building in 2022, the post said.
According to Christina Driscoll, daughter of restaurant owner Jimmy Driscoll and organizer of a GoFundMe to cover the cost of repairs, customers were inside the restaurant at the time of the crash.
Christina Driscoll said that both staff and restaurant patrons were not injured in the incident, and that protective measures put in place by her father including "columns, an elevated sidewalk and a stone wall around the patio" helped to prevent anyone from being seriously hurt.
"We want to thank all of our patrons and staff who took the time to help clean this heartbreaking mess," the restaurant added in their post.
The restaurant said that they hope to reopen soon "to support our staff and serve our community."
A link to the GoFundMe for the restaurant can be found here. Christina Driscoll said the business' insurance is not covering the damages due to "pending inspection and estimation for the renovations."
