BRISTOL, Conn. — The Bristol Police Department identified a motorcyclist who died in a crash at midnight Saturday.
Police said that the crash happened on Farmington Avenue, or Route 6, near Oakland Street.
According to Bristol police, a pair of motorcycles traveling at a high rate of speed rode past a sergeant going westbound on Farmington Avenue.
The sergeant reportedly turned around to attempt to stop the motorcyclists but discovered one had already crashed after “failing to negotiate the curve in the roadway,” Bristol police say.
Lifesaving measures were taken to try to save the motorcyclist, who was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the police department.
Police identified the motorcyclist as Patrick McCool, 27, of Terryville.
The Bristol Police Department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the crash and processed the scene. Bristol police say the road remained closed until 6 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information relevant to it is asked to contact the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team at 860-584-3038.
