BRISTOL, Conn. — The Bristol Police Department is reporting on Saturday that a fatal crash occurred overnight around midnight on Farmington Avenue, or Route 6, near Oakland Street.
According to Bristol police, a pair of motorcycles traveling at a high rate of speed rode past a sergeant going westbound on Farmington Avenue.
The sergeant reportedly turned around to attempt to stop the motorcyclists but discovered one had already crashed after “failing to negotiate the curve in the roadway,” Bristol police say.
Lifesaving measures were taken to try to save the motorcyclist, who was transported to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to the police department.
The Bristol Police Department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the crash and processed the scene. Bristol police say the road remained closed until 6 a.m.
The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld until their next of kin is notified, according to Bristol police.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information relevant to it is asked to contact the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team at 860-584-3038.
