Connecticut State Police identified two people Monday who died in a single-car Burlington crash that led to a vehicle fire on Oct. 12.
State police said the driver of a Ford Taurus SEL, identified as Tiffany Cormier, 39, and passenger, identified as Russell Bunn, 59, both of Bristol, died in the crash.
At 11:09 p.m. on Oct. 12, the Ford was traveling north in the area of Johnnycake Mountain Road in Burlington, state police said. For an unknown reason, the car went onto the right shoulder of the road and hit a mailbox before stopping against a tree.
The Ford then caught fire and became fully engulfed, according to state police.
A Burlington Paramedic pronounced both Cormier and Bunn dead at the scene.
State police said the investigation remains "active and ongoing." Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Trooper Domenic Dinunzio #736 at Troop L in Litchfield at 860-626-7900 or by email at Domenic.Dinunzio@ct.gov.
