SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — Two Southington gas stations were the victims of robberies early morning Sunday, the town's police department said.
Police said that they received a call at 4:55 a.m. about a robbery at the Shell Gas Station on Queen Street.
Officers were told by the employees that three male suspects went into the store, demanded cash from the register, and left with money and cigarettes.
While police were responding to the robbery at the Shell gas station, officers said they received a second 911 call about a robbery at the 7/11, also on Queen Street, involving two men that entered the store, demanded money, and left with cash from the register.
Both men could be seen leaving the store with "cash in hand," police said.
According to police, a stolen Hyundai Tucson bearing the Connecticut registration #BJ-35331 was believed to have been driven from the scene by one of the suspects, and was reportedly involved in numerous other robberies and thefts including in Newington and Cromwell.
It is currently unknown if either of the robberies are connected to an armed robbery that happened Saturday morning at the Shell Gas Station on Hartford Road in Manchester.
Anyone with information regarding the robberies or the suspect car is asked to call Southington Detective Brandon Massarelli at 860-378-1643.
