EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Two people are dead after a hit-and-run crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian in East Hartford, according to state police.

The crash happened Thursday around 1:15 a.m. on the ramp from Interstate 84 to Route 5/15 southbound in East Hartford.

According to officials, a Honda Accord EX was disabled in the right lane of the ramp. Four people had been inside the car and had moved to the right shoulder. One of the occupants, 21-year-old Jaheem Miles from Hartford, and a pedestrian identified as 18-year-old Moncrieffe Marlon eventually gathered back near the car, which was still on the ramp.

At that point, a Nissan Rogue which was also driving down the ramp in the same lane, crashed into Marlon and then crashed into the Honda. The Honda then crashed into Miles who was still standing by the car. Both the Nissan and the Honda came to a final rest in the right lane.

The driver of the Nissan then ran from the scene on foot, according to state police.

Marlon was pronounced dead at the scene, while Miles was rushed to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Two other people from the Honda had minor injuries from a previous collision and were taken to Saint Francis Hospital for treatment, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, and any witnesses are asked to contact Trooper Dean at Troop H, 860-534-1098 or email michael.dean@ct.gov. Police also asked if anyone had a vehicle equipped with a dash camera and was driving through the area at the time of the crash to contact Trooper Dean.
