2 found dead in burning vehicle in Oxford, victims identified

State police are investigating.

OXFORD, Conn — Two people were found dead Thursday morning in a vehicle that was destroyed by fire in Oxford. 

State police were called to Roosevelt Road around 4:10 a.m. for a vehicle fire. Local firefighters also responded, state police said.

After the fire was extinguished, two bodies were found in the vehicle.  Investigators from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner were called to the scene and took custody of the bodies.

Connecticut State Police identified the victims on Wednesday as David Rivera, 36, and Carlos Calderon, 39, both of Hartford.

Western District Major Crime Detectives are in charge of the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have other information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Kevin Roberts, WDMC at Troop A-Southbury, 203-267-2200. Reference case #2400210386
