LISBON, Conn. — Two people died in a crash involving a motorcycle in Lisbon Tuesday evening, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said the crash happened at 5:03 p.m. at the intersection of the North Burnham Highway, Kimball Road and Meadowbrook Drive.
Based on preliminary information, investigators determined that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was headed south on the North Burnham Highway and approaching the intersection. A white Volkswagen Passat was going north on the highway and began turning left onto Kimball Road when it was hit by the motorcycle, state police said.
The motorcyclist, Trevor Pawlak, 32, and passenger, Jessica Fowler, 33, of the Harley-Davidson were separated from the motorcycle after hitting the Volkswagen's front right corner, state police said. Both Pawlak and Fowler died of their injuries at the scene.
The Volkswagen driver refused medical treatment, state police said.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked by state police to contact Trooper Christopher Brett at 860-848-6540.
An alert from the Connecticut Department of Transportation at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday listed the highway as closed between Kinsman Hill and Kimball Road due to the crash. The closure is no longer active as of Wednesday.
