GLASTONBURY, Conn. — A woman was arrested Wednesday for her part in a stabbing in Glastonbury that took place with her child nearby, police said Friday.
Aminah Weatherington, 40, of Hartford, was charged with conspiracy to commit assault and risk of injury to a minor for an incident on Feb. 25.
Glastonbury police officers received a report at 11:36 a.m. on Feb. 25 about a fight that had taken place between two men at the Academy Building on Main Street. Police said that when they arrived at the scene, one man was found with injuries from a stabbing and that they were still looking for the suspect.
Shortly after the stabbing, police arrested Marcus McDaniel, 52, of Hartford, on charges of criminal attempt murder, assault first degree, breach of peace, and risk of injury to a minor.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police determined that McDaniel was attending a gymnastics event inside the Academy Building when he began arguing with a man that he knew. The two left the gym and went into the hallway where the argument became physical, police said.
Police said Weatherington encouraged McDaniels’ assault of the victim and did check on her 9-year-old child who witnessed the stabbing.
According to police, Weatherington fled the scene with McDaniels without her child after it was clear the victim suffered severe injury. She allegedly left her child behind.
Weatherington was released on a court-set $75,000 bond and appeared in court on Thursday.
The man who had been stabbed was taken to the hospital and was reportedly conscious and alert, police said.
The Academy building houses multiple town hall offices including parks and recreation, Probate Court, and information technology, and has a "teen center", a gym for gymnastics and other multi-purpose rooms, according to the town website.
